You’re buying a place with security devices
A new home may come with an installed security system. All the components function well, are hung in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, just get the phone to call and start a new service contract. A Vivint professional will still come out to make sure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer options on upgrades. It's a quick trip, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without worrying about any new devices -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a small transfer cost to make the process a snap. If the outgoing residents are downsizing to an apartment or smaller home, turning over the Vivint service might be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and bring your home security components with you
You might need to bring along your favorite home security components with you to your new house when you move. Luckily, it's fairly easy to do, as many alarms and smart devices are portable. You can remove each device by yourself or call a professional expert to come and dismantle your devices. Then an expert will put in the same components -- and any smart services you need to add -- in the new home. The home security contract will remain the same.
